Q: How long do we get support for?
A: Your family will be supported during the Education Health & Care Plan Assessment process which usually takes around 20 weeks, but iSEssex can support for a longer period than this- please contact us for more details.
Q: Can you come to meetings with me?
A: Yes Independent supporters can attend meetings with you to work towards an Education Health & Care Plan Assessment. contact us to discuss further.
Q: We already have a draft Education Health & Care Plan, can you help?
A: Please contact us for further details- iSEssex will sign post you to further support.
Q: I work full time, can I talk to somebody after 6pm during the week or at the weekend?
A: iSEssex try to meet the individual needs of each family, please contact us and we will try and make arrangements that suit your needs.
- Q: I never have time to get to Chelmsford, can someone come to see us at home?
Q: I am 18 years old and at college and I am not enjoying it.My teacher said you may be able to help me as I have a Learning Difficulty – can you?
A: We may be able to help and work with you, your family and your college, please contact us.
Q: We live in Essex but our boys go to a school outside of the county, can you help us?
A: It is likely that if you live within Essex, and your child(ren) age 0-25 are working towards an Education Health & Care Plan Assessment, iSEssex will be able to assist you even if your child(ren)/ Young person attends a school outside of Essex. Please contact us to discuss further.
Q: My child goes to an Essex school but we live in Thurrock, can you help us?

Q: Can you help me find things for my son to do after school & at weekends?
A: iSEssex support the Education Health & Care Plan Assesment process- a key part of this process is to identify likes, aspirations, needs which in turn often links to finding solutions to every day issues. Q: I love dancing to music, can you help me go somewhere to dance?
A: If you are working towards an Educational Health & Care Plan Assessment iSEssex can work with you if you are over 16 years old (or you and your family if under 16) to identify the things that matter most to you. The Essex Local Offer may have some ideas for you on Dancing.
Q: I am working with SENDIAS can you help too?
A: iSEssex would suggest that existing relationships of support are maintained.
Q: My son is 15 years old and doesn’t speak so how can he be involved with writing his plan?
A: Your Independent Supporter will work with your whole family and ensure his views are represented in a way which is appropriate to him. Contact us for more information.
Q: I am 21 and live at home with my Mum, I would love to go to college but I don’t think Mum will let me- can you help me?
A: If you had extra help when you were at school, had a Statement of Special Educational Needs it maybe that you can apply for an Educational Health & Care Plan Assessment- iSEssex can work directly with you through this process and look at your learning needs & possible support available for you.
Q: I am a teacher and have three children I teach with Statements of SEN, can you give our school any help with transferring the statements to EHCPs?
A: iSEssex mainly work directly with families going through the Educational Health & Care Plan Assessment however please contact us as there are a range of ways in which iSEssex can support your school.
Q: I used to go to Special School and now I am bored at home. I am 19 years old- do you know what I can do now?
A: Because you had a Statement of Special Educational Needs - iSEssex may be able to support you if you wish to return to education, work or training. Contact us for more information.
